One of the first signs of ageing happens around the eye area. The upper and lower eyelids develop bags, folds and wrinkles that can add years to ones appearance. There may be swelling and puffiness especially in the morning and this gradually becomes permanent.
Blepharoblasty is a surgical operation designed to remove the excess fatty tissue and loose skin around the eye.
This creates a more youthful, wide eyed look with no obvious scarring.
The upper eyelid procedure involves removal of excess skin and any over-stretched muscle fibers along with protruding fatty tissue.
The lower eyelid procedure is used in cases where eye bag removal is necessary and usually, loose skin and fatty tissue is also removed.
The operation takes between 1-2 hours, and is usually performed under local anaesthetic
